The Declaration Committee

An 1876 print of the "Declaration Committee," that drafted the Declaration of Independence In Philadelphia PA. The Committee Includes Thomas Jefferson, Roger Sherman, Benjamin Franklin Robert R. Livingston, and John Adams

Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia on May 10, 1775 and they declared themselves the government. They also named George Washington Commander in Chief of the newly organized army.
